The Fibre Behind the Performance

Great socks start with great yarn. At Melbourne Sock Company, we carefully select every fibre that goes into our products to ensure the right balance of comfort, durability, and performance. After years of manufacturing experience, we’ve built strong relationships with trusted yarn suppliers around the world who specialise in high quality technical and natural fibres.

Our performance nylon yarns form the backbone of many of our sport socks. Known for their durability, moisture management, and lightweight feel, these yarns are ideal for high output activity. With over 20 colour options available, they also allow us to create vibrant designs without compromising performance.

For our natural fibre range, we use fine 22-micron merino wool, a premium grade known for its softness and comfort. Merino naturally regulates temperature, manages moisture, and resists odour, making it ideal for both active use and everyday wear.

We also incorporate specialist technical fibres where they add real value. Coolmax® fibres enhance moisture-wicking and breathability, helping keep feet dry during intense activity. Meryl® Skinlife provides additional comfort and helps maintain freshness through its long lasting antibacterial properties. To ensure a secure fit and long term shape retention, we use high quality Lycra® and elastane in key areas of the sock.
