Our Melbourne Story

For more than 25 years, our family has been quietly manufacturing socks behind the scenes in Melbourne. While many people may not recognise our name, chances are they’ve worn socks that came from our machines. Over the years we’ve developed and produced socks for major international and Australian brands, created custom designs for events, and manufactured socks for schools and organisations across the country.

Throughout that time we’ve seen the industry change. Many brands that once manufactured locally moved their production overseas. While that shift helped reduce costs, it often came at the expense of transparency, local jobs, and quality control. We’ve always believed Australia should still be able to make great products and socks are no exception.

After decades of manufacturing for others, we decided it was time to create a brand of our own. Melbourne Sock Company was built on the same foundation that has guided our factory for years: quality craftsmanship, ethical production, and local manufacturing.

As a family business, manufacturing isn’t just something we do, it’s who we are. Our brand is directly connected to our factory, which means every pair of socks we sell represents the work, pride, and experience of the people who make them.

To ensure we continue producing at the highest level, we’ve invested heavily in modern sock manufacturing technology, including advanced Lonati knitting machines, used by some of the world’s best manufacturers. This allows us to produce high performance socks with precision, consistency, and innovation while still maintaining the hands on approach of a local factory.

We’re also proud of the environment we’ve built within our factory. Ethical production and fair working conditions are non-negotiable for us. When you wear our socks, you can be confident they were made locally, responsibly, and by people who are treated with respect.

Melbourne Sock Company exists for a simple reason: to prove that great socks can still be made in Australia. By supporting Australian manufacturing, investing in our own capabilities, and building a brand directly connected to our factory, we’re committed to keeping local production alive for many years to come.
